Twelve local and area fire departments along with several First Responders agencies and ambulances responded late Sunday morning to a fire in the Town of Kossuth.
Kellnersville Fire Chief Brian Lambert says the initial call came in at 11:25am for a fire in a detached garage at 8303 County Highway T. Lambert stated flames extended to a nearby home- suffering extensive damage to the east side of the structure including smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the home which is deemed uninhabitable while the garage is a “total loss.”
The lone occupant of the home made it out safely; however, one firefighter was transported to the hospital for treatment of heat exhaustion. No other injuries were reported. Several vehicles along with a lawnmower and garden tractor were lost in the blaze.
No dollar damage estimate is available as the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Other agencies responding on scene were the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department, Manitowoc County Fire Investigators, WPS and Tower Excavating.
