Details about a fire at a metal company yesterday (September 27th) have been released.
Village of Cleveland Fire Department Captain Dan Bruckschen says firefighters were called to B&B Metals at 14520 Pioneer Road for the reported fire.
When they arrived they found a large pile of scrap metal with some smoke and flames coming out the top.
Cleveland firefighters say because of previous incidents at the metal company, the MABAS alarm was used to call multiple fire departments to bring additional resources.
When the fire started to spread in the fire, Incident Command called to Calumet and Brown County teams for help.
After about 90 minutes the fire was under control and crews spent about two hours putting out hot spots.
Staff at B&B Metals also used a crane to pull the scrap metal pile apart to put out the fire.
In total, 31 fire departments came to help extinguish the blaze.
Cleveland Firefighters didn’t say what caused the scrap metal pile to catch fire or if any other damage was reported.
They thanked everyone who came to help assist and thanked the Newton Auxiliary and Smiling Moose for brining food.
