Almost 40-thousand electric customers throughout Wisconsin were without power late this (Wednesday) morning due to a second full day of windstorms. The Public Service utility continued to have the most customers out, almost 16-thousand in the northeast and central regions. Xcel Energy had 96-hundred customers in the dark in the northwest third of Wisconsin — We Energies had seven-thousand outages in the Milwaukee and Fox Valley regions — and Alliant Energy had close to five-thousand without power as of eleven a-m in south central Wisconsin. Winds were gusting in the 55 mile per hour range in the southern part of the state late this morning, while other areas had gusts in the 30s and 40s. Wind advisories continue statewide until late afternoon or early evening.
