The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says that tests confirmed elevated levels of E. coli in a stream in Humboldt following a massive manure spill last week. Human error was said to be the cause of the 100,000 gallon spill after an employee of the farm accidentally left a valve open. The DNR also said they found slightly elevated E. coli levels upstream, but the levels were not uncommon when the stream is on a farm. The DNR is still waiting on test results for other chemicals, and have not seen any dead fish as a result either.
