Wisconsin State Assembly Representative Andre Jacque is part of a team that will be reintroducing legislation aiming to fix the “social host” loophole. Currently, the law states that adults 21 or older are prohibited from allowing minors to drink alcohol on premises they own or control. The issue is the definition of the word premises. “Premises” has been interpreted to be limited to establishments with alcohol permits in recent years, including a case last year in Fond du Lac. The legislation will close this loophole, and will include parties held on an adult’s property.
