A state Representative from Ozaukee County is seeking to establish a mandatory minimum sentence for anyone who kills another person while driving drunk.  Representative Jim Ott of Mequon says he is putting forth a bill to keep someone in prison for at least five years if they operate a motor vehicle while drunk and cause a deadly accident.  He says the maximum sentences of 25 to 40 years aren’t an issue and are normally imposed, but he’s heard of too many cases of light sentences as well.
