Two Manitowoc women have been arrested on suspicion of forging and attempting to cash fake checks. Police responded to a credit union in Manitowoc at around 3 PM on March 23rd on a report of one of the women trying to cash a $2,000 check. The 27 year old was denied because the name on the check was no longer a member of that credit union. Later that day the woman tried again at a local “bank” only to be turned away. An officer followed the woman as she got into a U-Haul truck that was being driven by a 25 year old female. The police questioned the two women, and found they were not telling the truth. They reportedly had stolen checks from the older woman’s aunt and attempted to cash them. The women were then taken into custody.
