One of two 14- year- old boys accused of taking a loaded gun and ammunition to Wilson Junior High School last month was sentenced yesterday to one year of court ordered supervision on charges of possessing a firearm on school grounds and carrying a concealed weapon. A third charge of possessing a firearm by a person under the age of 18 was dismissed. Police were called to the school the afternoon of March 21st after the school’s resource officer received two tips from two separate students that the boys had a gun. A subsequent search revealed a loaded revolver in one of the boys backpacks and ammunition in the other boys’ backpack. Police say the boys brought the weapon to school to protect themselves of threats being made against them. Because this is a juvenile court matter the details of the sentence or the students’ identity will not be released. The other boy is scheduled to be sentenced tomorrow.
