The Board of Directors of the Manitowoc Two Rivers YMCA reported today that Steve Smith, Chief Executive Officer, has announced his resignation from the Manitowoc – Two Rivers YMCA.  He will become the President and CEO of the Cass and Clay Counties YMCA in Fargo, North Dakota in early June.

Mr. Smith has been employed by the Manitowoc – Two Rivers YMCA since 2009. In that time he has moved the organization to focus on the overall strength of Manitowoc County as a community.  Membership at the YMCA has grown over this time and the organization has focused on wellness and healthy living initiatives such as Livestrong at the YMCA (a cancer survivor program) and Diabetes Prevention along with other critical programming such as Aquability (special needs swimming programs) and Moving For Better Balance (a falls prevention program).  Smith has led a successful Capital Campaign for the renovations to the YMCA facility that will begin later this year.  That campaign is ongoing.

The Board of Directors will immediately begin an executive search for a new CEO.  The Y will continue to execute on its capital campaign and community supporting strategic initiatives.

Board President Chris Stream said, “I would like to congratulate Steve on his new opportunity and wish him and his family the absolute best.  Steve was instrumental in several growth initiatives during his tenure, including the current capital campaign that is underway to improve the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA facility.  The Y has experienced a tremendous amount of success under Steve’s leadership and he will be missed.”
