Organizers of Manitowoc’s two-day summer music festival, ‘Metro Jam’, have announced the ‘headliner’ for June 16th & 17th at Washington Park.  Tom Chermake (sure’-mok) tells us  the concert will feature New York Blues Hall of Famer, Garland Jeffreys.  A news release describes Jeffreys as “a singer-songwriter of extraordinary soul & grace..music royalty.”  His classic songs ‘Wild in the Streets…Hail, Hail Rock & Roll and his ‘own’ take on 96-Tears (tiers) have amassed over a million You-Tube views.  Garland Jeffreys has recorded & collaborated with well-known artists like Bruce Springsteen….Phoebe Snow, James Taylor and Dr. John.  He’s also been endorsed as a major contributor to reggae by Bob Marley, himself.  Jeffreys & his band will play Metro-Jam on Saturday evening, June 17th.  The festival….includes ‘10’ different national and regional acts over a 2-day period, featuring a wide variety of musical styles.  The metro stage event will again partner with the Manitowoc Jaycees..for this…the ‘39th’ annual downtown concert in the park.  Entertainment is ‘free’, courtesy of presenting-sponsors Cher-make Sausage and Baileigh (bailey) Industrial, along with a number of great ‘supporting’ sponsors.
