Organizers of Manitowoc’s two-day summer music festival, ‘Metro Jam’, have announced the ‘headliner’ for June 16th & 17th at Washington Park. Tom Chermake (sure’-mok) tells us the concert will feature New York Blues Hall of Famer, Garland Jeffreys. A news release describes Jeffreys as “a singer-songwriter of extraordinary soul & grace..music royalty.” His classic songs ‘Wild in the Streets…Hail, Hail Rock & Roll and his ‘own’ take on 96-Tears (tiers) have amassed over a million You-Tube views. Garland Jeffreys has recorded & collaborated with well-known artists like Bruce Springsteen….Phoebe Snow, James Taylor and Dr. John. He’s also been endorsed as a major contributor to reggae by Bob Marley, himself. Jeffreys & his band will play Metro-Jam on Saturday evening, June 17th. The festival….includes ‘10’ different national and regional acts over a 2-day period, featuring a wide variety of musical styles. The metro stage event will again partner with the Manitowoc Jaycees..for this…the ‘39th’ annual downtown concert in the park. Entertainment is ‘free’, courtesy of presenting-sponsors Cher-make Sausage and Baileigh (bailey) Industrial, along with a number of great ‘supporting’ sponsors.
