The mayor of Green Bay is asking residents to talk up their city on social media. In his recent “State of the City” address, Jim Schmitt says he wants to attract more young professionals — and if residents would put their Green Bay stories on outlets like Facebook, it could double its projected annual population growth of almost one percent. Schmitt says people often visit Green Bay with no idea of the city’s affordable housing, or Bay Beach amusement park. Andrea Tobias of the Greater Green Bay Chamber of Commerce stated the mayor is correct — and she says new projects like a proposed Shipyard, and the Packers’ Titletown District are prime examples of what young professionals are looking for. Green Bay plans ten events next week during Young Professionals’ Week, and officials say it will help create things people can share online.
