There is no new information to share at this time on the shooting which occurred at 10:43 PM on May 19th in the 700 block of S. 15th St. Manitowoc Detectives have been working on this incident nearly around the clock since it occurred last Friday night. They continue to follow up on multiple leads that they have developed or that have been received by our Department.

 

It is still believed that this was an isolated incident and that the general public is not in immediate danger.

 

There is also no new information to share as to the 44 year old victims medical condition as he continues to be treated for his life threatening injuries at a trauma center outside of the Manitowoc area.

On Friday, May 19th, 2017, at 10:43 pm, Manitowoc Police Department Officers and the Manitowoc Fire Department were called to the 700 block of S. 15th Street, City of Manitowoc, for a report of a shooting.

Officers learned that a 44 year old Manitowoc male suffered life threatening injuries consistent with being shot. The victim was transported out of the area to a trauma center to treat his life threatening injuries.

Witnesses described the suspect as an African American male with dreadlocks and wearing a white or light colored top. The suspect was last seen running south in the 700 block of S. 15th Street towards S. 15th Street and Clark Street.

Three K9 units, two from Manitowoc PD and one from the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office were brought in to search for the suspect. The suspect remains at large.

Manitowoc Police Department detectives are actively investigating this incident and early indications are that this is an isolated incident. As the investigation continues, more information will become available. Due to the early and ongoing investigation, it is anticipated that further details of the incident will not be available until Monday, May 22nd.

The Manitowoc Police Department was assisted on scene by the Manitowoc Fire Department, City of Manitowoc Department of Public Works (DPW), and the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office.
