A Manitowoc Lincoln High School Senior was voted an Honorable Mention on the FRCC All-Conference Boys Tennis team, which was announced yesterday. Austin Gilow of the Ships is an All-League choice at #3 singles. Conference Player of the Year is Sophomore Johnny Zakowski of Green Bay Southwest. The Ashwaubenon duo of Kole Kolinski and David Clark picked up Best Doubles Team honors, while Randy Nelson of FRCC champion Southwest, is the Coach of the year. Three Roncalli High School players will be competing later today in the WIAA Boys State Individual Tennis Championships. Junior Ben Salutz at 17-2 faces sp[ecial qualifier, Adam Kelly of Shorewood in singles action at 5:00 this afternoon. The Jets’ doubles team of Freshman Jacob Linzmeier and Sophomore Alec Schermetzler at 11-4 is a special qualifier. They will meat a duo out of Eau Claire Regis tonight at 6:00 in the Nelson Tennis Stadium on the UW-Madison campus.

 

Denmark will play tonight for a birth in the WIAA Girls State Softball Tournament when the Vikings take on New London in a Division 2 Sectional Finale. That ballgame is scheduled to begin at 5:00 at Winneconne.

 

Post-Season Girls Soccer competition gets underway around the area tonight. In Division 1, Manitowoc Lincoln tries for an upset as they travel to Quad Park in Milwaukee for a 5:00 start against #3 seeded Divine Savior/Holy Angels. There are four Division 4 matchups of local interest tonight as well. Roncalli is visiting #1 seded Oostberg at 7:00, Valders is facing #4 Kohler at 5:00, #7 Kiel is hosting Ozaukee also at 5:00, and #2 seeded Howards Grove is at home against Sheboygan Area Lutheran at 5:00.
