Aurora Health Care broke ground for their upcoming clinic at 3509 Dewey Street earlier today. Mayor Nickels was on hand, and praised Aurora for their commitment to Manitowoc and their customers. He also explained that this expansion would help the city by giving the citizens a wider variety of jobs. While the new facility is replacing the aging clinic on Dewey Street, it will also add several new jobs, as it will offer a wider variety of services. Some of those services will be a full service urgent care which will be operational 7 days a week, imaging services, lab services, occupational health, and a drive-thro pharmacy. Hospital president, Cathie Kocourek pointed out that that part of the city does not have an Aurora pharmacy, and that the drive-thru will be “great for our customers”. The 18,000 square foot facility should have most of its exterior completed before the snow flies, with the interior being worked on until the grand opening, which is expected to be in wither July or August of next year.
