Four of five suspects charged with various heroin and methamphetamine related violations had bail hearings this afternoon (yesterday) in Manitowoc county circuit court. They’re identified as 58- year- old Darryl Reynolds and 47- year-old Claurice Smith of Rockford Illnois—50- year- old Jeffrey Truettner and 59 -year- old Myron Pieschel of Manitowoc. A fifth defendant 48- year- old Tammy Pieschel of Manitowoc did not appear according to court records.  Lt. Dave Remiker of the Manitowoc county metro drug unit says investigators conducted a lengthy heroin distribution investigation that involved a substantial amount of heroin being distributed from Rockford Illinois to Manitowoc county.  It included multiple controlled purchases during a four month period in Manitowoc and Rockford.  A search warrant executed at a residence in the 4200 block of ray street resulted in the arrest of Truettner with meth located on his person. A second search  warrant was conducted in the 2100 block of South 21st Street leading to the Pieschel’s arrest—Myron on heroin distribution charges and Tammy on probation violation related charges. Meanwhile investigators arranged for a $2500 purchase of heroin yesterday (Wednesday) and they were able to take Reynolds and Smith into custody after a short pursuit on South 21st. Lt. Remiker says Reynolds is responsible for an estimated $135 to $200 thousand of heroin sales in Manitowoc County over a one year period.  He’s in the county jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail. Smith had bail set at $20,000 cash—Truettner $1000 cash and $500 cash for Myron Pieschel and all defendants have initial appearances scheduled for June 19th at 2:30.
