E. coli was found in one of the hydration stations at Erin Hills golf course yesterday. The Washington Ozaukee Health Department reported the finding at the station which is located near hole 12 at the course which is currently hosting the U.S. Open. It is believed that visitors may have consumed water from the station between Tuesday afternoon and yesterday morning. Event organizers are now giving out complimentary bottled water at all stations as a precautionary measure. E. coli is found in soil and can find its way into the water supply through cracked or leaky underground pipes.
