Brooks Koepka (kepp kuh) scores three straight birdies on Sunday’s back nine to win the 117th U-S Open golf tournament at Erin Hills. The 27-year-old Florida native broke through a crowded field of leaders by shooting 67 on the tournament’s windiest day to finish at 272. At minus 16, Koepka tied Rory McIlroy’s 2011 record for the lowest U-S Open score in relation to par as he became the seventh consecutive first time winner of a golf major. Hideki Matsuyama and Brian Harman tied for second at four strokes back. Both Wisconsin players finished in the Top 35 in the Badger State’s first U-S Open as Steve Stricker of Madison tied for 16th with a second straight round of 69 to close out a minus five 283 — and Jordan Niebrugge of Mequon was 36th with his only sub par round of 71 to finish at plus one 289.
