Several vehicles were parked by the old Mirro Building yesterday, so people could witness a piece of Manitowoc history be torn down. Crews were starting to chip away at the structure, showing some exterior progress. While some of the people were there so they could watch the machines at work, others were glad to see the eyesore begin to disappear. The spectators were split about what the land is going to become, one man stated that he didn’t like how many factories have left the city, such as Mirro, The Manitowoc Company and Foster Needle, while another said he was looking forward to seeing the open space. The building is expected to be completely demolished by the end of August. If you wish to view the demolition, you can either go down to the site, or visit http://www.manitowoc.org, and click on the What’s Happening at Mirro section. There is a link to a live feed of the building.
