Sheriff’s officials say a Racine County man may have had hypothermia before he was rescued in Lake Michigan. The sheriff’s Water Patrol was called about 11:30 Sunday morning, after the 24-year-old man was screaming for help near the Root River. Officials say the man, who has a history of mental problems, climbed onto a Jet Ski — but when he fell back in, he would not let other boaters help him, even though one of them threw a life jacket which he used. The water patrol eventually put the unidentified man on a sheriff’s boat, and he was taken to a Racine hospital.
