Brewers’ outfield prospect Zach Clark has been named the player of the week in the Pioneer Rookie League. The 21-year-old Clark hit three homers in five games last week while going nine for 22 with 12 R-B-Is, one double, one triple, and eight runs scored. The Brewers drafted him last year in the 19th round from Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Mississippi.
The Brewers have confirmed the signings of eleven foreign players after Major League teams were allowed to approve new international deals on Monday. M-L-B Dot Com said earlier that the Brewers signed 14 international players — and the ones the team made official on Tuesday included those with the three highest bonuses. Larry Ernesto of the Dominican Republic reportedly received a one-point-seven-million dollar bonus, Carlos Rodriguez of Venezuela was signed for one-and-one-third-million, and Jeicor Cristian got 340-thousand dollars. All three are center fielders. Brewers’ general manager David Stearns calls it an “exciting” class that shows much athleticism.
