The top women’s pro golf tour begins its inaugural Wisconsin tournament today (Thursday), as the Thornberry Creek L-P-G-A Classic starts at Oneida near Green Bay. The first tee times are at 7:30, when six players open their rounds at the first and tenth holes. Yeon Ryu is Number One in the Rolex Women’s Rankings, but she passed up the Oneida event with the U-S Women’s Open just one week away in New Jersey. The Number two women’s pro, Ariya Jutanugam, is competing at Thornberry Creek — and so is Casey Danielson of Osceola, who’s making her pro debut with a tee time of 2:09. Danielle Kang, who won the women’s P-G-A Championship last weekend, also took a pass this week — but a few big names made the trip like Paula Creamer, Christie Kerr, and Karrie Webb.
