The Milwaukee Brewers are eight games above .500 for the first time since September of 2014, after crushing the Cubs 11-2 in Chicago Thursday. The Brewers scored seven in the third inning to put this one away as Domingo Santana had four hits including two doubles, and Ryan Braun homered while Zach Davies improved to 10-4, giving up two runs in six innings. Cubs’ starter Mike Montgomery dropped to 1-6 — Cubs’ skipper Joe Maddon had outfielder Jon Jay pitch the ninth to spare his bullpen — and Milwaukee made the most of what would have been a day off for the team, had the Cubs not called off a May 20th game against the Crew due to a prediction for rain that never materialized. The Brewers questioned the Cubs’ decision and motives at the time. The Crew has now won four straight and seven of eight, extending its National League Central lead to four and one half games on the Cubs as the Brewers now begin a series against the Yankees in New York tonight (Friday).
