Steve Stricker of Madison ties for 37th at the British Open. He shot a plus one 71 in his final round Sunday at Royal Birkshire in Southport, England. Stricker finished at plus two 282 — 14 strokes behind the winner of the year’s third major, Jordan Spieth. The 50-year-old Stricker says he had trouble with his putting despite steady scores close to par in his 15th British Open — and he also made the weekend cut in his 25th straight major, the most among active golfers. Matt Kuchar finished second at three strokes back and Brooks Koepka, who won the U-S Open at Erin Hills in southeast Wisconsin in mid June, tied for sixth in England.
