Eau Claire native Paul Menard will join a new NASCAR racing team next year. He’ll be with the Wood Brothers after spending the last seven years with Richard Childress Racing. Menard will drive what he calls the “iconic” Number 21 car for the Wood Brothers, which he says is the “coolest thing” he’ll get a chance to do — and Greg Erwin will be his crew chief. Also, Roger Penske’s team provides techncial assistance to the Wood Brothers, and Menard says he’ll look forward to working with that unit. The 36-year-old Menard has one victory in NASCAR’s top circuit, that coming at Indianapolis in 2011 — and he has also won three races in the second tier Xfinity Series.
