Reliever Jeremy Jeffress is in his third stint with the Brewers after being traded from Texas Monday for Double “A” reliever Tayler Scott. It was Milwaukee’s only deadline deal, though G-M David Stearns says he was in talks all the way to the three p-m cutoff — and he thinks there will be more trades than normal in the Majors in August when players must clear waivers. The Brewers traded the 30-year-old Jeffress to Texas at last year’s deadline along with catcher Jonathan Lucroy who was dealt to Colorado Sunday — and Jeffress ended his season one month later when he was arrested for drunk driving and spent 22 days in rehab. This year, he was 1-2 in 39 relief outings at Texas with a five-point-three-one E-R-A — and both he and Stearns expect him to be better in Milwaukee where he has felt a sense of being “home” since being the Brewers’ top draft choice in 2006. Outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis was designated for assignment to make room for Jeffress on Milwaukee’s 40-man roster.
