Seniors Leon Jacobs and Grant Dooley hope to nail down the starting outside linebacker spots for Wisconsin. Both have played with the Number One defense during the first week of the Badgers’ preseason camp after having played a variety of other positions during their time in Madison. Both have spent part of their careers at outside linebacker — but Jacobs has also been an inside linebacker and fullback, while Dooley has also played on the inside and at defensive end. Dooley missed the 2014 season after having surgery to fix recurring issues with his right knee, and Jacobs was granted a fifth year of eligibility after a foot injury ended his 2015 season just four games in. Both are looking for starting spots in Wisconsin’s season opener at home against Utah State on September first.
