A 21 year old man is in the Manitowoc County Jail on a charge of Disorderly Conduct while armed with a knife. Manitowoc Police say the subject allegedly sent a letter that the County Jail staff had intercepted, explaining he wanted to do a “suicide by cop.” Three officers were assigned to apprehend the 21 year old for a probation hold. When they arrived at an address in the 4100 block of Custer Street late Wednesday morning and told him he was under arrest, he reportedly told officers “You don’t know what I have behind my back.” When police told the subject he would be tased if he did not drop a knife he was holding, he complied and the taser was not deployed. The suspect was handcuffed and transported to jail for the probation parole warrant.
