The Two Rivers City Council will be asked this week to give the go-ahead to file a water rate case with the Wisconsin Public Service Commission. During an interview last week, City Manager Greg Buckley admitted that water rates are relatively high, or about 12-percent above the median for northeast Wisconsin.
The City Manager says water usage has steadily declined in recent years and he points out the Two Rivers water utility has a deficit balance of some $1.8-million dollars. Buckley says that needs to be reduced and eliminated over the next several years. He added utility ‘operating costs’ have been kept ‘well under control’ in recent years.
