Two business partners are trying to bring back Milwaukee’s iconic Midwest Express Airlines. A website called FlyMidwestExpress Dot Com says they’re seeking investors and employees to bring back hassle free service to make flying “fun” again. Curt Drumm of Manitowoc and former Midwest executive Greg Aretakis are heading the effort, and Drumm tells the Journal Sentinel they’re not ready to make a public announcement. Midwest Express started in Appleton and later moved to Oak Creek — and it was beloved throughout Wisconsin with leather “two across” seats, hot chocolate chip cookies, and non stop flights to popular business destinations. It had 55-percent of Milwaukee’s airport traffic at its peak, but it stopped flying almost ten years ago when Republic and later Frontier bought it — and Frontier replaced the cookie ovens with more seats.
