Sergeant Bruce Jacobs of the Manitowoc Police Department says his officers are still seeing a large number og vehicle and garage entries along with eggings in the city. Jacobs said approximately 28 cases have been reported since the end of last month, with 9 incidents coming after a Crimestoppers alert was sent out to notify citizens on Monday. The fact is, most vehicles and buildings that are illegally entered are left unlocked. The MPD encourages the community to keep valuable property inside their vehicles hidden and out of view, and to lock your doors. Sergeant Jacobs also reminds residents to be more aware of suspicious activity and to care enough to call police when something doesn’t seen right. If you wish to start a neighborhood watch program, you can call Sergeant Jacobs at 686-6576. Also citizens who can provide information leading to an arrest for these thefts could become eligible to receive up to a $500 reward by calling Manitowoc Crimestoppers at 686-4466, and you can do so anonymously.
