The Wisconsin Historical Society announced that the Lookout shipwreck in Two Rivers has been listed in the National Register of Historical Places yesterday. Being a part of the National Register does come with some perks, including being eligible for grants and rehabilitation income tax credits. According to the Historical Society, the lookout is one of very few examples of a vessel that was very important to not only Wisconsin’s economy, but also the economy of the entire Midwest. State and Federal laws regarding Historical Places now apply to the Lookout, which include the illegality of removing, defacing, displacing or destroying artifacts that are located in the wreckage.
