Brewers’ minor leaguer Julio Mendez is hospitalized in critical but stable condition, after having a heart attack while hit by a pitch. It happened Saturday night when the 20-year-old infielder was hit in the chest in the top of the ninth by reliever Austin Krzeminski (krez min’skee) of the Angels in an Arizona League contest in Tempe, Arizona. He was given C-P-R by stadium staffers before being taken to a hospital — and the game was not continued after that. The Brewers signed Mendez in 2013. He played for two years in the Dominican Summer League before playing in the Arizona League since the start of 2016.
