The State Department of Criminal Investigation has identified the officers involved in last week’s fatal shooting in the Kewaunee County town of Franklin. They are deputy Jamie A. Tlachac (cla-hotch)—a five year veteran of the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department who shot and killed 22- year- old Tyler Whitmire. The other three are identified as deputy Jordan D. Salentine (sal-in-teen) a three-year veteran of the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department—Sergeant Dustin E. Smidle a 22 year veteran of the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department and Officer Brian D. Gale who has four years of service with the Kewaunee Police Department. Their roles in the case were not disclosed. DCI investigators said the officers were called just before eight the evening of August 21st to county highway AB in the town of Franklin for a report of a man threaetning a woman and others with a knife. Investigators say Tlachac (cla-hotch) shot Whitmire when he confronted officers. An autopsy has been performed with results pending. All four officers have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the department of justice’s division of criminal investigation. Their results will be turned over to the Kewaunee County District Attorney who’ll decide if criminal charges are warranted.
