After former Washington Middle School teacher Kerstin Westcott came out about safety concerns at the school, the Green Bay Area School District have been working on a plan to make the school a safer place for students and staff alike. Westcott cited many instances of physical, emotional, and sexual bullying to students and staff, and the lack of discipline for these kinds of actions. The Green Bay Police are confident this year will be safe, and say that the tone needs to be set in the first week. Officers will be at nearly every school in the district to greet students returning to school today to attempt to create a feeling of ease. Westcott is now a teacher in the Manitowoc School District.
