The Milwaukee Brewers needed a good weekend in Chicago to stay in the race for the National League Central Division. They had a great one, sweeping the Cubs to move to within two games of the lead. Travis Shaw pounded a two-run homer and Zach Davies allowed only a single run in seven innings on the mound as the Brewers prevailed 3-1 Sunday. Davies picked up his 17th win. Stephen Vogt’s R-B-I grounder in the fourth accounted for Milwaukee’s other run. Paired with the St. Louis win over Pittsburgh, just two games separate the top three teams in the division with 19 games left in the regular season. Rookie Brandon Woodruff starts tonight’s series opener at Miller Park against the Pirates.
