A prosecutor says three drug officers acted in self defense when they killed a drug dealing suspect in Milwaukee in March. Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm cleared federal drug agent Jim Krueger and West Allis detectives Dan DiTorrice and Todd Kurtz. They killed 32-year-old Jermaine Claybrooks, whom officials say was armed while sitting in a car as officers were confronting him about possible drug dealing. Officials say Claybrooks was driving away when his car hit a tree a short distance away — and he was reportedly seen pointing a gun at an officer when the agent and detectives fired shots. Three Milwaukee officers also fired shots but did not give statements to investigators, and a lawyer for the Claybrooks family says “unanswered questions” remain about that and the family plans to take the case to federal court.
