Federal officials say they’ve targeted 21 Milwaukee area residents as part of a national drug selling and money laundering operation. Eighteen people in their 20s and 30s were arrested Tuesday, one arrest was made in California, and two suspects are still being sought. A grand jury handed down numerous drug related charges including conspiracies and possession with intent to deliver. State and local officers joined federal agents in confiscating sizable amounts of marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamines in a business that was reportedly spread from Mexico and California to the Midwest — and they also seized one-point-three million dollars and 13 firearms. Robert Bell of the U-S Drug Enforcement Administration said the arrests dismantled large scale drug trafficking groups, and it will end up making the Milwaukee area safer.
