Barring a last minute plea deal, Joseph Jakubowski will start going on trial Monday in U-S District Court in Madison. The 33-year-old Janesville man is accused of taking 18 guns and two silencers from a gun shop in early April — and then going on the lam for ten days before he was arrested on a Vernon County farm in southwest Wisconsin. There was talk that Jakubowski would threaten a mass school shooting, and he wrote a manifesto to the White House critical of President Donald Trump. A judge has ordered that the jury in Jakubowski’s federal trial be sequestered. He also has a state trial set to begin October 23rd for armed burglary, theft, and possessing burglars’ tools.
