Lightning damaged the roof of an assisted living facility near Superior this (Friday) morning. Officials say an electrical fire started in the attic, and nobody was hurt. That was just one damage report after severe thunderstorms rumbled through far northern Wisconsin. Sarona in Sawyer County had tennis ball sized hail around mid morning, and power lines went down in Arbor Vitae in Vilas County. A tree knocked down an electric wire near Park Falls in Price County. Close to 250 electric customers in the northern quarter of the state were without power at mid afternoon, and more storms were predicted for the far north during the weekend. Once the storms went through, it got cooler as Eagle River had 64 degrees as of two p-m — and Wautoma in Waushara County had 91.
