The new freshman class at U-W Madison is the largest on record. Unviersity officials say 66-hundred-ten freshmen were taking classes on the tenth day of the fall semester. That’s 180 more than the same time last fall. The UW says almost 37-hundred-50 of the first year students are from Wisconsin, and more than eleven hundred transferred from other schools. All told, the state’s flagship public campus had almost 44-thousand students at the start of the semester — almost 500 more than last fall.
