Former Milwaukee Teacher Gets 5 Years For Sexual Contact With Student

A former fifth grade teacher accused in February with having sexual contact with an 11-year-old boy has been sentenced to five years in prison. Twenty-five-year-old Katherine Gonzalez was also sentenced to seven years of extended supervision after being convicted of first-degree child sexual assault. Gonzalez was formerly on the staff at Atlas Preparatory Academy in Bay View. Prosecutors say Gonzalez and the Atlas Preparatory Academy student began messaging on Snapchat and then had contact in her car and her home.
