Marquette men’s basketball coach Steve Wojciechowski (wo jeh chow’skee) wants a more consistent defense in his fourth season in Milwaukee. The Golden Eagles were 17th in the nation last year with 82 points a game — but the defense ranked 259th by giving up 76 per outing. At Marquette’s Media Day on Monday, Wojciechowski said he tried emphasizing defense but his team was not consistently good at it because of their small size. He’s hoping for better things this time with the addition of four long armed freshmen including 6-9 rebounder and shot blocker Ike Eke. Marquette went 19-13 last season and lost to South Carolina in the first round of the N-C-A-A Tournament.
