Manitowoc County and six surrounding counties have been designated as disaster areas due to crop losses from heavy rains in late June and early July by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue. This designation allows those affected by flood damages to receive assistance from the state, including emergency loans.
