The Chicago Cubs are about to play for their second straight World Series title after going 108 years without one. But the Brewers have never won a Fall Classic in their 49 year history, and that’s the fourth longest futility string in Major League Baseball. The Brewers have only been in one World Series — that being in 1982 when Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, and company lost in seven games to Saint Louis. Cleveland now has the distinction of playing the longest without rising to the pinnacle — 68 years, although they got to within one game of the championship last fall. The Texas Rangers have not won a title in 57 years, and Houston is oh for 55 years — although the Astros join the Indians in this year’s A-L playoffs, and San Diego is tied with Milwaukee for the fourth longest title drought at 49 years.
