Wisconsin’s first killing frost is overdue, and there are no signs that it will come soon. The online almanac “Wisconline Gardening” says the first significant frost normally strikes as early as September 13th in far northern Wisconsin, and as late as October 24th along Lake Michigan from Manitowoc southward. But central Wisconsin has only had a little patchy frost — and the only places where it hit the freezing mark this (Thursday) morning were in Tomahawk at 32 degrees and Merrill at 31. Northern Minnesota had a frost advisory during the night, and portions of northwest Wisconsin were expecting patchy frost from that band of cold. Otherwise, forecasters say lows will not drop into the mid 30s in the Badger State at least until next Wednesday — and southern Wisconsin can expect summerlike lows in the 60s on Saturday.
