The Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the hiring of Julie Dean Grossman as the new CEO of the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA. Grossman has a long and diverse YMCA background and has served in many leadership roles during her YMCA Career. She will assume CEO responsibilities in mid-November of 2017.
Julie Dean Grossman grew up on the Lakeshore, attending JF Magee and OH Schultz Elementary Schools before graduating from Mishicot High School in 1994 and going on to be a Badger at the UW-Madison. After graduation, life took her to NYC, some global trekking, and LA before she and her husband Mike landed in Eugene, Oregon where they had two daughters (now ages 12 and 8) and where Julie began her Y career in earnest. (Although camp counseling at Green Bay Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya was where she got her real start!). From summer camp to membership services to financial development and eventually on to executive leadership of the Eugene Family YMCA, Julie approaches her work with a singular focus: to strengthen the community she calls home. She believes deeply in the potential of the Y and our partners to nurture our children, improve our health, and build our connections to one another.
Grossman stated, “The Y is an incredibly unique organization. Where else do you find people from all walks of life– all ages, all religions, all cultures, all lifestyles– all together as a community committed to healthier, happier living? It has the potential to be the vibrant and thriving heart center of the community, and that is my vision for our Y on the Lakeshore.” Sixteen years into her Y career, Julie is honored and excited to join the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA team. “With our return to Manitowoc County, my daughters will be the 6th generation in my family to call this area ‘home.’ I learned how to swim in this Y pool. This takes what is already an incredibly powerful mission (Y work) and makes it deeply personal. I am so grateful for the opportunity to deliver, along with our board and staff teams, a new era of exceptional programs and service designed to help all who live here thrive– in spirit, mind, and body.”
YMCA Board of Directors President Chris Stream said “The YMCA Board of Directors is excited to welcome Julie back to the Lakeshore. We are fortunate to have a CEO of her caliber lead our organization. Julie’s ties to Manitowoc County and the success she brings with her from the Eugene Family YMCA will positively impact our Y as we continue to serve our community.” Please join the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA in welcoming Julie and the entire Grossman family to the Lakeshore.
