A proposed crude oil pipeline replacement from Canada to Superior gets strong support at a public hearing in Minnesota. Enbridge workers and executives were among attending the hearing in Grand Rapids, where much of the testimony focused on the safety of using pipelines instead of rail cars to move oil — and the prospects for hundreds of jobs in building the replacement for the 50-year-old Line number Three. In September, the Minnesota Commerce Department said the state would be better off without the pipeline. Work is already taking place on the Wisconsin portion of the project, and the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission is expected to decide next spring on whether the bulk of the pipeline can be built in the Gopher State.
