Madison Mayor Paul Soglin says it’s “excellent” news that a company will buy the former Oscar Mayer meat plant with the goal of selling it to a prospective factory developer. Reich Brothers Holdings of New York says it hopes to complete a purchase of the facility on Madison’s east side by the end of October. Oscar Mayer used to make lunch meats at the Madison plant, employing up to 12-hundred-50 workers. Its owner, Kraft Heinz, closed the factory in June of this year.
