The County Board in Madison will ask state lawmakers to suspend Wisconsin’s photo I-D requirement for voting. Supervisors on Thursday night endorsed a resolution suspending the Republican law until changes are made. They could include a easier process for getting acceptable I-Ds, letting voters without proper I-Ds sign affidavits confirming their identity, and running a voter education campaign. Dane County supervisors took action after a study from U-W found that between 11-thousand and 23-thousand people in Dane and Milwaukee counties did not vote in last fall’s presidential election because they thought they didn’t have the I-Ds they needed. The G-O-P is not expected to dump the law anytime soon, as the governor’s office says it protects the “integrity” of the voting process.
