It will be four years ago next Thursday when two skydiving planes crashed into each other above the city of Superior. Nine divers and two pilots escaped with nothing more than minor injuries — and now, they’re using some of the residuals from that incident to help charities that serve the Duluth/Superior region. N-B-C paid the skydivers 125-thousand dollars for exclusive video in the two weeks following the crash — and that was used to buy an airplane. They also formed a nonprofit group that has raised 32-thousand dollars from licensing fees paid by organizations showing the dramatic collision video. And after giving 23-thousand to local service groups, it gave another seven-thousand on Thursday.
